One of the most prestigious awards in the field of antimicrobial chemotherapy - «Tom Bergan Memorial Award» was presented to the creators of the website «Russian Antibiotics Portal» at 23rd International Congress of Chemotherapy which was held on 7-9 June 2003 in Durban (South Africa).

A lot of healthcare professionals and scientists have taken part in the website creation and development, but the major role belongs to the following people from the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the Smolensk State Medical Academy and the Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (Russia):

  • Dr Irina Andreeva - PhD student, Department of Clinical Pharmacology, editor-in-chief
  • Dr Vladimir Rafalsky - deputy director, Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
  • Dr Olga Stetsiouk - research assistant, Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
  • Boris Makushkin - IT specialist, Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
  • Vladimir Kretchikov - student, Smolensk State Medical Academy
  • Alexander Faraschuk - student, Smolensk State Medical Academy
  • Dr Eugeni Idelevich - postgraduate student, Department of Therapeutics

The website was started in 2000 by the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and the Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. Since that time its weekly audience has increased five times, the amount of hits has exceeded 11 millions. Every month scientists from more than 95 countries visit the website. Since the beginning of its work 4 full-text practical guides, 11 issues of the journal «Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy», 31 practical guidelines and informational letters, 25 articles as well as presentations and abstracts from Russian and international conferences have been published.

The diploma was awarded to the website editor-in-chief Dr I. Andreeva.
